Maidstone West Scouts has partnered with Kent Scouts Top Awards Team to deliver The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award at a District level.

We are pleased to invite all Explorers, Young Leaders and Network members to a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) Information Evening, where you can find out more about this exciting and highly regarded opportunity.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is an internationally recognised award that is highly respected by employers, colleges, and universities. It helps young people develop valuable life skills, confidence, and independence while gaining experiences that stand out on CVs and applications.

At Bronze Level (age 14+) and Silver Level (age 15+), the Award is made up of four sections:

- Volunteering
- Physical
- Skill
- Expedition

At Gold level (age 16+), a fifth section is added:

- Residential

If you are a Young Leader, you are already completing meaningful volunteering within Scouts. This means that your Young Leader role can count towards the Volunteering section of the Award, so you would already be part of the way there should you decide to take part in DofE.

The information evening will explain:

- What the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award involves
- How each section works
- How your Young Leader role can be used
- Associated costs involved in taking part
- What support is available to help you complete the Award

If you are currently completing DofE through your school and would prefer to transfer and continue it through Scouts, this is absolutely possible. No progress will be lost, and this will also be explained at the information evening.

Information Evening Details:

- Date: 26th January 2026
- Time: 7:30pm
- Location: District HQ, Elmstone Lane, Maidstone ME16 9LL (park in the bower grove school car park)

We strongly encourage all Young Leaders, Explorers and Network to attend, whether you are already interested in DofE or just want to find out more.
